If there's one luxury automaker that's befuddled us, it's been Ford's Lincoln division. The company has made some really fine automobiles in its day, however, as of the past 10 or so years it really hasn't differentiated itself from its Ford siblings.

And that's a shame. We know the company can do better.

I think the big question that's been lingering is when will the company finally make the changes it needs. Well, that day may have finally come. That's because it looks like the 2015 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) may be the spot where the company unveils the all-new Continental.

If this dream does, in fact, come true it will likely be in concept form. Not only would Lincoln have to take the market's temperature before revealing an all-new vehicle, it also needs to see if its design can be tolerated.

If you ask me, the new MKC and MKX seem to be pretty decent looking compared to what else it has put out in recent years, but in this super competitive market the all-new Continental cannot just be satisfactory. It has to blow people's minds.

According to a Ford forum, some of the members did some handy dandy detective work and discovered an internal development site and even pulled the code. It clearly states that a 2017 Lincoln Continental is on the way.

Until we get official word though, who knows. In the auto industry, nothing is ever certain unless the fat lady sings.
