The alliance deal between Daimler and Renault-Nissan appears to be much further-reaching than initially thought, with the two automakers expected to share engines, platforms and perhaps even manufacturing facilities in the future.

According to a new report, another platform that will be shared will be the rear-wheel drive architecture destined for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C Class.
