In order to meet the demand, Nissan will boost the production capacity for its new electric car, the Leaf. To date, CEO Carlos Ghosn said that more than 13,000 orders have been received in the US (8,500 orders) and Japan (4,700 orders).

Some changes would have to be made since at this rate, Nissan could only produce fewer than 12,000 of the cars by next March. Delivery will begin in December. 2010 is expected to a volatile year but Ghosn is confident about Nissan’s future as demand goes up in markets such as China, where sales increased by 60% so far this year.
