Nissan begins taking GT-R orders in the U.S.

just curious to know what you would spend the money on with the 80k you get that has similar performance?

we're talking new vehicles too, no used and abused please...

I would get a BMW 335i Convertible.

But srsly, the 335i is pretty weird looking in person.

I went into Ford the other day, and they had a GT500 still going 30k over sticker. It felt good to tell every sales person that came up to me that they were all greedy theives!
I love the GT500, but id never pay a penny over msrp.

Obliv- im surprised to hear that someone else thinks that the 335i looks weird..imo, the sedan looks better than the coupe though..but i wouldnt drive any

EL34- if you dont care about performance, y would you get the 335i?? it lacks nothing in that dept. if you really dont care, get the 328i convertible lol

I find it funny that every post I read about how a manufacturer should handle the dealerships.

Why would Nissan bite the hand that feeds them?

Who is Nissan's customer? You, I don't think so. It's the dealer! The auto manufacturer makes a stupid amount of money on these vehicles selling them to the dealer, then the dealer gets a couple of thousand dollars to work with when pleasing their customers, and finally you see where you come into the equation.

By saying that they are going to do anything to discourage or prevent the dealer from doing this is simply to take themselves off the hook for building a vehicle at a total of 1500 knowing that it will cause this type of premium.

When a car has a premium attached to it, it actually helps the brand. Walk into a Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc.... store outside of SoCal, and see how easy it is to get a discount on these vehicles.

It is pretty damn tough, why? Because all of these brands produce just enough vehicles for the dealers to keep inventory afloat. Chevy, not so much. If a dealer asks for 20 extra vehicles the manufacturer will be sure they get them, because just like a dealer looking for volume of sales, so are the manufacturers.

How do you create an air of "premium" on a brand...the manufacturer creates it, in the end all Nissan vehicles will benefit from one having a premium.

Look at Pontiac, the Solstice was selling for $10K over list, now the whole product line has more swagger, Saturn had the Sky, Saturn does the whole one price thing...so they sold the cars to themself and then turned them into used cars and sold them at a premium. Now the Aura and (soon to be) Astra are hot products.

Stop blaming dealers being the manufacturers puppets.
