One would think that around 660 horsepower sent exclusive to the rear wheels would be enough. Well, they were wrong.

Our friends at Novitec Rosso did a bit of tinkering with the all-new Ferrari 488 Spider and wound up giving it a significant lift in power. And here’s the crazy thing: The tuner didn’t do any changes to the vehicles’ innards. Novitec Rosso simply played around with the Ferrari’s ECU and installed an all-new exhaust system.

Now it’s producing a staggering 772 horsepower and 658 lb.-ft. of torque. According to the boys and girls from Novitec, that should be good enough to get the 488 to 60 in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 212 mph.

We’re hoping that’s with the roof up!

In addition to the ECU work and exhaust, the company is offering a full aerodynamic kit but we’re a bit doubtful that it seriously improves upon Maranello’s work and intense testing. And it isn’t exactly easy on the eyes.
