In October we were one of the first outlets to break the jaw-dropping news of misfortune in Argentina. The world famous motoring program, Top Gear, had ventured into trouble — this time it wasn't cheeky or scripted, either.

According to reports then, two of the three vehicles Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were driving had number plates that were taken as direct references to the Falklands war. Of course, this created a stir among veterans and aimless residents alike.

Now whether or not it was a tongue-in-cheek move by the ballsy Top Gear guys is beyond us. It does sound like something they'd do though if you've watched their exploits.

Finally we'll get to see how it ALL played out as Top Gear plans to roll out a Christmas special, two-part epic about its trip to Patagonia come December 27 and 28.

Jeremy, Richard and James will take a Porsche 928, Lotus Esprit and Ford Mustang through their most gruelling challenge to date: a 1600-mile trek through Patagonia to the southernmost city in the world, in order to stage an epic game of car football against Argentina.

There will be swamps, deserts, forests, beaches, and ski slopes for the three V8 sports cars to suffer. There will also be broken bones, mechanical calamities and even some cows. Plus, a climax that wasn’t really on the cards.
