I agree. BMW suvs are very nice. They're some of the most masculine looking trucks on the road. This redesign was just right. It's a little less of a whale. .

The Q7 looks too much like a bloated stationwagon/minivan. Saw one in downtown Seattle and was not a bit impressed. The X5 definitely has a more sportier, wide-stanced aggressive SUV look than the Toureg or Q7.

Q7 looks like a floating BOAT!!!! or a long RAT! just put a tail at the end of it! Hideous. Much to learn from REAL designers at BMW. (however, before you jump on me, i do admire the A4-8 designs)

I am quite liberal with options, so my Bimmers always come out at $8-9k more than the sticker. I always start over, but then as I add one thing after the other, I end up right at the same price again. I guess I am kind of a pig.

My X5 3.0i was about 45k msrp, with premium and cold weather packages.

The prudent comment, lease.

And again BMW makes you pay for the options big time!!
You have to pay primo $$$ on the V8 to get the upgraded sound system, 6 CD changer (come on Beemer!), Privacy glass, the whole premium package should have been standard!!.
Again the Q7 is more bang for the buck....and bigger too.
it's also interesting that a lot of these packages are very, very close to the way Audi packaged theirs...
Sadly...no air suspension??

Garage opener is still an option in premium package, LOL. Even the nissan versa has it on the standard list.

I hope BMW builds a variant of the new X5 that will compete with the ML63 and Cayenne Turbo S.

Price of admission in the super-sport SUV club is at least 500 hp.

What about a twin-turbo 4.8L?!

X5 is going to be incredible. I just ordered one with;
Sport pkg
20" wheels
prem pkg
cold pkg
climate pkg
3rd row seat
comfort access
pdc
running boards
active seat pkg
sat radio
MSRP $69,990, local dealer would only offer $1k off, called a dealer a couple hours away, took me 10 minutes to get 5% off msrp.
Should have new X5 by end of Nov.

Wow... that's quite a sum for an X5. But yours looks loaded... and completely worth it.

Did you ever think about the Range Rover Sport Supercharged? It's about that price.
