It's not a bad looking vehicle. The problem is it really does not look like a "Jeep"brand. First off the lights look exactly like the Chinese Fiat version of the Dodge Dart. Second those vertical slots look weirdwith the Chrome surrounds. The slots should be in a solid chrome piece with a cut out look(as on the old Jeep Grand Cherokees). This looks like an Italian SUV with a poorly executed Jeep style hints. It may be a good vehicle with good off road performance. However this design is all wrong. I predict an early cycle refresh like Honda and Chevy had to do with the Civic and Malibu. it will be interesting to see and I hope I'm wrong.— mini22 (View Profile)

I give Jeep credit for trying to create something unique in a sea of similarity and derivative styling. It doesn't have to appeal to everyone. If you want the more conventional compact SUV look there are plenty of other options already available (Escape/RAV 4/CR-V). In any case, I'm happy to see automotive styling starting to evolve away from the oversized headlight assemblies to smaller sleeker headlight designs.— MBCLS07 (View Profile)

Despite the chrome, i don't think the styling is as off-putting as an Aztek. It's line are well integrated and it's definitely sleek. I don't even think that front end is as desperate-to-be-unique as the Murano is. Jeep is a strong brand in the US as I still see tons of Compasses, Patriots, and Liberties on the road, despite their middling performance and mediocre quality. Priced right, this will be a strong competitor in the segment. — cidflekken (View Profile)

I'm sorry, that front end is going to go down in the history books as one of the greatest automotive design mistakes of all time. Really, it's terrible. It makes no sense in relation to the brand and it makes no sense in relation to what the product is supposed to symbolize. Not one thing about this vehicle says take me off-roading unless you are taking me off the road and into a strip-mall parking lot.It also looks like these photos were a rush job. I can't believe these were the prepared press shots they were sitting on waiting to release. I wouldn't be surprised to find out some of those pictures were taken today. That shot in front of that terrible looking house and the shot on the beach where the cliffs have more light and detail in them than the car does - really JV.I was actually considering buying the Jeep Grand Cherokee this year and this has actually made me question whether I want a Jeep.— makkystyle (View Profile)

Luckily the sheet metal cutlines allow them to change the lighting configuration--perhaps enlarge the upper light cluster and integrate the main headlamp into it. And get rid of the middly light cluster all together.— dbtk (View Profile)

Holy shit that is hideous. Also this looks like the high-end trim. The base trim has more plastic and looks even uglier, if you can believe it.— Sciros (View Profile)

Not a fail. This will be a success for Jeep. Once we see these on the roads for 6 months or a year, it will have grown on us. Generally speaking, SUV's are just plain ugly, anyway.— irishmike (View Profile)

I'd like to say this will be a great product but I have a friend with the 2013 version who has had nothing but trouble. They have sent people from the factory to fix it. They say it is fixed and the next day the issue reoccurs. When it is wet the suspension elevation systems kicks in a raises the suspension. It is hard to justify buying a vehicle that is unreliable when there are som many reliable vehicles on the market now.— mrpiii (View Profile)

With the success of the Grand Cherokee (which I love), why not build a mini version of it? Perhaps Jeep is targeting a more youthful market?— jeffgall (View Profile)

I predict this will be a winner for Jeep, ESPECIALLY with young women. A poor mans Evoque. It is unique and interesting...like an alternative take to Audi with a nicer looking grill. My .02.001— Agent001 (View Profile)

Is it April 1st? What the hell is this? An Aztek? Awful. Just awful. Is it really that hard to modernize a classic style? Who signed off on this??— M35MT (View Profile)

If they remove the top high beams and oh-so-original walmart LED light strip, put back the flat front, this sports car would look a lot better, atleast from the front.— HughJass (View Profile)

I'll give Jeep credit, atleast the design is different. The true test of whether its a good design or not is whether the Koreans decide to copy it.— HughJass (View Profile)

Do you get the distinct feeling that auto designers are running out of ideas? They are now just squeezing, twisting and bastardizing existing designs under the banner of "new" design. This Jeep looks like plastic surgery gone terribly wrong.— skytop (View Profile)
