Official specs on the Nissan GT-R: 473 hp
Yesterday we saw numerous embargo leaks on the Nissan GT-R that gave us a good look at the upcoming beast from Nissan. However besides the little blurb on the cover of Motor Trend we had no idea about the official horsepower or torque of the GT-R.
Well now Inside Line has updated their GT-R post with all the official info. The Nissan GT-R will be powered by a 3.8 liter V6 engine that produces 473 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph takes a quick 3.5 seconds while top speed is 192 mph...

Don't worry too much though because although it will be stock 473HP (NOT 573HP!!!) it will be tuned out of this world. By the end of the year there will be upgrades for 600+HP prolly.

The HP rating might be incorrect just like what people are saying about the BMW 335i. The stock very is indeed rated SAE at 473HP. The 573HP is for the Nissmo V-Spec-III track model which Nissan is bringing out next year to compete with the V8 performace vehicles such as: M3 CLS, IS-F, AMG C63, CTS V-Series, and RS4. The current GT-R model competes with the Eclipse, Mustang, GTO, and Camero.
By the way, I wonder how much potential this Nissan VR38 has compared to the RD26t inline-6.
Hopefully, it'll be at least as good as the 3.8L V8 in the Eclipse and the turbo as strong as that in the BMW 335i.

It will never compete with MB C63, M3, or RS4. Not with that super cheap interior, sorry guys. It will (maybe) match the Corvette, I only see the GT-R as a vette fighter, they are both quite similar: cheap for a huge amount of performance(if that 0-60 time is true) and with cheap interior too.
GT-R vs Corvette.
Corvette looks better though. And with the new version it will be faster too. Even current model has more hp than the GT-R.

I don't see how your comparing the GTR to the RS4 etc and how its interior is cheap if it hasn't come out.

Well, I am a very big fan of MB , BMW and Audi in that order. I Saw GTR and the C63 with the M3 and there is no a big difference in the interiors. And the warranty for the Nissan is even better. If you feel that your product is good, Stand By with a better warranty. RICEMASTER is right. The torque on the Bimers is a joke when you compare it to most of the cars in that category. The sound of those engines is beautyfull. But High rev engines have overheating problems most of the time, so it is very likely that if they install turbos, they will have more problems like the overheat in the 335i Turbo. C63 in the other side is able to do 525HP with out turbos, with turbos they will a reinforced transmision. You can say that M3 engine is for boys that like you accelerate in front of young ladies, but C63 is other category, for the ones that looks for Real Power. Do not missunderstand, M3 is great but that engine needs to replaced very soon or at the end of this year most of the people will end buying GTRs or even ISFs just because they have more power and performance "for your money". If AMG wants they can transform C63 in a nightmare for any other brand, That is the Ultimate engine and thats final. 0-60 M3=4.8 GTR=3.5, Diferent categories so do not compare those if you are talking about performance, no way. Finaly I prefer the M3 design over GTR, but thats me. The beauty is in the eye of the Beholder guys.

It will only compete with the Vette 0-60...3792 lbs to 3129 lbs...the Vette has more hp and torque and gets similar gas mileage. Lets not forget with mid 17's 0-150 the C6 Z06 even blows the 997 Turbo away over 100 mph.

Few (wannabe automotive elitist in here) will admit it, but the 2008 C6 (every version) is a masterpiece, and a great bargain at that!

I agree, as much as I hate vettes, the new C6 is simply out of this world performance for the price. GT-R's going to have a tuff time keeping up.
