I'll be the first, and probably not last, to say MEH!

I had some pretty high hopes for this car to look great, but that side profile is boring for such an expensive sports car. And, is that a 90 year old man driving the car in the press photos? He looks like he is about to have a stroke!

You have a choice of 3 or 4 side panels including...CARBON FIBER!!
Damn that car is beautiful!!!
You can even opt for LED lights in the engine compartment!

Them side panels look silly - guess they help distinguish the car from the TT though... I'd probably go for carbon fibre ones on a black body.

Good ol' Auto Union, 'bout time they raised their profile a bit.

I agree black, wth carbon fiber panels has to be the sickest combination ever.

LED Lights in the engine compartments!!!!!

Alex where did you get that information?

We have one HUGE problem. A 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds. Well, Audi estimates the RS4 as 0-60 in 4.6 and it can do it in 4.3.

The RS4 also weighs 3,800 pounds or 600 pounds MORE than the 3,200 pound R8.

Anyway, even if the V8 is not as powerful as expected, the V10 will SCREAM!

GermanNut: it's 0-62 in 4.6 sec.
RS4 was 0-62 in 4.8 sec.
One thing though is that the R8 will go just over 300 km/h!!

If RS4 was 0-62 in 4.8 and can get down to 4.3, I'm betting the R8 which is listed as 0-62 in 4.6 can hit an even 4.0 seconds in V8 form.

This leaves the V10 for a time 0-62 time between 3.6-3.8........or absolutely FAST!

The V10 Audi R8 will mingle with the Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari F430, Ford GT and Corvette Z06.

Awesome!

It comes with DSG!!!!!!!!! that is going to be absolutely stunning.

I know, stop creaming your pants at the thought of owning such a fine vehicle Sauceboy.

This car will go head to head with the BMW M6, Porsche 911 Carrera and will chase them down.

It helps if the car looks like a Lamborghini Gallardo.

Beautiful!

Mustangpny07, the designer for the "new" mustang couldn't even come up with a decent design, yet you're criticizing "the hotness". As was stated this car in black, black carbon fiber intakes, with black rims, that is the joint.

I95SPEEDINGTICKETS, you check the C&D test with the Ferrari F430, the 997 Turbo, and the Z06? The Z06 lit the Turbo up. As did the F430. The Turbo is nothing more than a FAST GT now, it is the GT2 that is the ultimate 911.

I don't Use C&D reviews for my decisions, the ZO6 might have beat it on a Drag Strip 0-60 but Could you drive the ZO6 Everyday ? Winter or Summer ? Long Trips ?
Not all cars are Road Cars and im sure you know the ZO6 is useless on the road
(Not Comfortable to drive)
Hell im sure there are some faster vehicles out there that are Technically Road Ready but i bet you could not use it for Normal Road Use (Evo IX fq360)

MikeG-

"And, is that a 90 year old man driving the car in the press photos? He looks like he is about to have a stroke!"

It would make sense that the man in the picture was Dr. Martin Winterkorn, the CEO of Audi.

And I'd like to see your beloved Lexus come up with something half as interesting as this beauty. This car is somehow as beautiful as an Aston Martin but completely different at the same time.

Winterkorn, if that is him, looks to be closer to 60 or 70 than 90. He looks pretty good for a person that old.

I think you need to step of the exaggerator a little bit.

Oh how funny and immature this site has become....I have lurked and waited(as all you car queers have)for this introduction....this is a vehicle that comprises all that the VAG(Volkswagen Auto Gruppe) has to offer and more. All of you that consider yourself to be purist's of one brand or another should realize that the synergy of many of the elite design teams both mechanically and cosmetically have contributed to this gem of a first generation classic. I am quite frankly tired of wasting bandwidth and brain cells reading the crap that is spewed on autospies.com. I have reduced your chatter to comedy and insecure retoric from the likes of those that must cast a negetive light on any product that they are not retailing.......enough is enough. If you were not interested you wouldn't be here, as I wouldn't be. When is the last time that you've seen an Audi/VW/Lambo/Bugatti/SEAT/SKOKA/Quattro GMBH fan slam a Mercedes,Lexus,BMW?? I learned many years ago in the military that the best way to combat an ambush is through speed, noise, and violence.....I guess those lessons were correct.......Vorsprung Durch Technik...:)
