Porsche has undergone some interesting changes in the past 10 years. Who would have thought that the iconic sports car brand would become more widely known due to luxury sport utility vehicles and a sedan that captured the heart of enthusiasts looking for a daily driver?

Apparently Porsche.

Although the company has recently launched a slew of high-performance, race-bred sports cars it seems there may be room for more. THINK: The GT3, the Cayman GT4, the GT3 RS, the Boxster Spyder.

According to the latest patent filings, Porsche may be planning a GT5. Just no one knows for which model or how or when. Our friends at Autocar even spoke to some folks at the Stuttgart-based company and this is what they had to say:

...A Porsche spokesperson said: “There’s no comment on that [GT5] in relation to what our future product might be..."

...Andreas Preuninger, head of the GT division, had previously indicated that he thought there was room in the company’s line-up for more focused models. 

When asked whether the increasing sales of Porsche’s SUVs would be followed by more motorsports-developed cars in order to maintain the brand’s sporting spirit, he said: “Absolutely my suggestion..."

It looks like we'll have to wait and see. But for those of you who were initially frightened by the launch of SUVs and sedans into the Porsche product portfolio, it's very clear that the company has not abandoned its principles.
