lol thats basically a c class convertible. the clk was also similar to the C class but has some different design cues.

anyways, isnt it rumored that the 2009 C350 will get the 309 horsepower engine that will be put into the slk? if so, i think the clk will also be geting the 209 horses instead of the weak 270.

That's not the CLK 2009 cabrio model but it is the New C-Class cabrio which is going to the market in 2011.There is a wrong translation from automotorundsport magazine.

Why do they need two four-seat convertibles with the same engines???

Right thats not the CLK that design has a different front end and the linees on this picture are wrong.
S4-The reason for 2 4-seat convertibles is the same reason that BMW ued for the 1 series cars. A little smaller and a little sportier. I think this means that the CLK is moving up market so that people will stop reminding them that the CLK uses the same basic platform as the C Class. I am willing to bet that this car will have the two V6's. The 300 and 350. The CLK will have the 350 and the V8's. So most likesly they plan on aiming this car towrds the 1 and 3 series. Thats just what I think. Deboost if you want.

I was thinking the same thing, but I would be surprised if they were dramatically different sizes. I would also be surprised if this car (C-Class convert) made it to market at all. It's just a little redundant; the 1 Series and 3 Series are clearly different sized cars.

They would be different sizes. Its the difference between the C Class hatchback thing and the CLK. Same basic platform totally different sized cars. I doubt the C convertible would make it to market here though.

rsands1: I noticed that you have pasted your same lame comment under every thread. Autospies posts the articles - the audience comments. If you don't like the comments then don't bother visiting Autospies - it's that simple.

rsands, every one of your comments has been whiny and bloated. I sniffed your act from a mile away: join board, bitch and argue about something, then complain about said board when not in agreement. Irritable 22-year-olds are a dime a dozen here, take your show to www.civic-si.com and discuss the latest in coffee can mufflers or Fast & Furious 5.

Now go get your shinebox.

If this is the CLK, at least it doesn't scream "chick" car as much as the last one did (except the AMG versions). The first generation CLK was nearly perfect and appealed to both sexes. The second... errr... Mercedes seemed to be going metrosexual with it.

I agree that the first gen CLK was just about the perfect shape. Too bad it got soft.

It's a good move benz's part to base this on the good looking C-Class, at least it doesn't look like a jelly bean on wheels aka 3-Series.
