Here we go, folks. You better buckle up because we’re in for a helluva ride.

Hyundai and Kia have a slew of recalls going on, which equate to over 400,000 units requiring varying degrees of fixes. Simply put though, none of them are particularly great. In the wake of Anton Yelchin’s death, which may have been linked to his Jeep Grand Cherokee that was under recall, it’s just a reminder that you have to take recalls seriously.

So, here’s a list of the latest ailments affecting Hyundai and Kia products:

1) If you own a 2006-2012 Kia Sedona, there may be a corrosion issue if you live in a “salt state.” Essentially, anywhere you get snow. If so, there’s a chance the vehicle may have excessive wear and result in a broken lower control arm. That accounts for nearly 98,000 vehicles.

2) Nearly 220,000 Kia Sedonas may have a faulty hood latch. Once again, this is related to corrosion. If you have a Sedona built between June 15, 2005 and April 4, 2014, you’ll want to get this looked at.

3) Certain 2013 Kia Fortes may have problems with their seat belt retractor screws. Just over 5,200 vehicles are in question. According to Kia, if a passenger is involved in an accident it’s possible that the plate can break off and hit said passenger. If you’ve already been in an accident, we’re doubtful you want to deal with the removal of metal from your person.

4) Lastly, about 81,000 Hyundai Tucson’s are being called back for a faulty secondary hood latch. If the primary hood latch doesn’t do its job, there’s a chance that the failure of the secondary latch would cause your hood to fly open at speed. Obviously, that will prove problematic during driving.

If you’re the owner of one of the aforementioned Hyundai or Kia products, we advise you to ring your dealership as soon as possible to get the recalls fixed.
