Well, folks. It may have just come down to this.

In the nearly week-long saga that's been known as the punch heard around the world, it seems that Jeremy Clarkson has essentially declared that it's all a wrap on his involvement in Top Gear and maybe even the show itself. How can I say this?

Clarkson contributes a weekly column to a British tabloid, The Sun. In his weekly column, which usually is a bit all over the place in true Clarksonian form, he uses metaphors consisting of dinosaurs to say that it's time to move on.

Some excerpts:

..."I THINK it’s fair to say that nature made a mistake when it invented the dinosaur. It was too big, too violent and with such small and puny arms it was never going to be able to operate heavy machinery or even enjoy a bit of special 'me' time..."

...“All the dinosaurs died and now, years later, no-one mourns their passing. These big, imposing creatures have no place in a world which has moved on...”

...“You can start as many campaigns as you like and call on the support of politicians from all sides, but the day must come when you have to wave goodbye to the big monsters, and move on...”

While it sounds rather dramatic, I think the writing is on the wall, boys and girls.

As noted in other threads though, I am sure this isn't the last we've seen of the Top Gear trio. They all are excellent presenters in a variety of different avenues and, frankly, there is more to life than just automobiles.

If this is indeed the end, I raise my glass to you Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. It's been a trip.
