Renaultsport has merged the stunning DeZir concept car with the Megane Trophy racer to celebrate 50 years of the Alpine A 110 Berlinette. The result is this, the 395bhp V6-powered Renault Alpine A 110-50 concept car.

The original Alpine was unveiled 50 years ago at the Paris motor show, and the modern interpretation will be back at the same show in September having made its initial debut at the Monaco grand prix this weekend.

Renault design chief Laurens van den Acker has long spoken of his desire to create a modern-day Alpine since joining Renault from Mazda in 2009. Sales and marketing boss Stephen Norman has also confirmed that Renault is looking at how they could make the Alpine concept a production reality. The Alpine A 110-50’s design mixes the DeZir’s basic look with some nods to the original A 110 and some racing add-ons.
