Review: Lexus RX challenger?
The Lincoln MKX is a midsize SUV — or CUV, as the company likes to call it, to reflect that it's a car-based crossover. The MKX provides a refined, smooth driving experience in a people-hauler that may be one of the most crashworthy cars on the market. (That means it's likely to protect its occupants, not that it's ripe for the scrap heap.) The MKX effectively replaces the Aviator, a midsize model based on the venerable Ford Explorer, and is a sister of the Ford Edge crossover. It shares many of that model's strong points, but I'm not sure it adds enough to command the price premium. Read Article

Are you joking?

And do we really need a "Gogo5"?

Can you actually compare the Lincoln to the Lexus? The Lincoln screams, "I'm hooked in a chromed out Ford" while the Lexus sighs, "I think I made a decent investment." Right or wrong? No matter though, it's all about preferences.

The RX is far superior to this Lincoln. The finishing in the RX is far finer than those of this fill in the market replacement for Aviator, Lincoln MKX. The interior is also just like any other Lincoln these days whether its a truck or sedan they're all basically the same anyway. That means their just really tight on funding.

The MKZ does have some interesting attributes, and won’t be mistaken for a German or Japanese make, which is a bonus for buyers with a need to be "different;" but the only hope the MKZ has in even modestly challenging the RX350 is by being cheaper... another class cheaper.

Personally, I find the shameless lack of refinement in the MKX almost appalling. The tacky chrome grill, the ghetto engineered pole that powers the rear hatch, the tasteless late seventies gauges and the needlessly retro interior design… oh, and it’s a second slower than the RX to 60, despite similar MPG... it all stacks up to an SUV that reeks of cost-cutting and sub-par engineering talent. I don’t think there is a vehicle in this segment I wouldn’t rather have.

I meant MKX... not MKZ.

I agree 100%!

And the sad thing is, it isn't much cheaper.

RX350 AWD: $38,800

MKX AWD: $35,770

And they're pretty much giving the RXs away right now, so the MKX is rendered useless.

webguy, chrome is what people want!!!

Seventies gauges is what people want!!!

Don't you think they tested these things with people before making a decision?

I don't. Lincoln doesn't have a clue. Look at the new Navigator for inspiration.

LOL!

All Fords and their variations has that certain cheapness feeling to them. Their designs are not quite right or almost good, but not nearly good enough. In the case of the MKX---it could have been a little more expensive than the RX, but no---Ford instantly devalued it by pricing it below the RX as if the cede some type of victory. Ford should have put real chrome accents on the Lincoln, and nothing less.

Lincoln should have a separate driver instrumentation packages---one for the late seventies theme and modern electroluminescent option for those who don't want to be reminded of an old-ass Ford LTD. I think if Lincoln 'poured-on' the luxury, its critics would disappear.
