In the world of the “H” manufacturer, cars like the Accord, Civic and Pilot are king. They’re major sellers for Honda. But, you may notice that we left one out of the fearsome foursome. That’s a massive mistake.

That’s because the CR-V is a massively important vehicle for our friends at Honda.

While the current-gen product is doing OK, we have to point out it is selling in a rather opportune market. Buyers cannot get enough of compact sport-utility vehicles and the CR-V benefits from this. So, how can Honda make it a more compelling vehicle?

Simple. Make it more visually stimulating — in a positive way — and give it room to grow, literally. Now that the HR-V exists, that’s exactly where the CR-V is going to go. Recall, the Pilot has grown significantly from the smaller, last-gen model.

The latest rumors suggest that the all-new CR-V may get room for seven. That may be hard to believe, however, we suggest you analyze the increase in space beyond the B-Pillar in the spy shots. It’s completely possible.

Honda’s head of cars in the UK, Leon Brannan, has previously hinted to Autocar that the new CR-V will offer seven seats as standard and four-wheel drive, in a bid to rival more premium products such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volvo XC60.
