The BIG news this year was the unveil of the all-new Mercdes-Benz S-Class.
Just about everyone that's been behind the wheel has come away pretty amazed by the way the three-pointed star stepped up to the plate and executed the all-new Benz.
Having just spent some time behind the wheel for the first time myself, I will say I am not a HUGE fan of the way Mercedes styled its interior, BUT the features are pretty amazing. BMW needs to bring it's "A" game or don't even bother.
So now that we're seeing the FIRST interior spy shots of the prototype, we have to ask: is BMW looking competitive?
Per the mysterious user on BMW forums Scott26 — said to be a BMW employee — that is not the final interior as there as current-gen BMW parts being used as "stand ins." That said, you still get a general idea of how this thing is going to shape up.

The next generation 7 Series is due next year and while prototypes have been spotted since early 2013, the interior has not been seen until now. The major interior changes seen so far are:
• Floating (non-integrated) iDrive screen Of course this is still a prototype, so what we see here is also in preproduction form, and portions of it may change for the production model.
• Fully digital gauges
• Elevated control panel (shifter / iDrive knob) in center console
• Larger shifter
