In recent months, Ferrari's F12 has been sort of overshadowed. Not only have a bunch of customers been receiving their stunning La Ferraris, the all-new California T debuted to much acclaim and the all-new 488 GTB was launched — press reviews just went live yesterday.

Now with the California T producing upwards of 550 horsepower and the 488 GTB gaining some serious momentum thanks to a 660 horsepower powerplant, the V12 churning 730 ponies in the F12 doesn't seem so outrageous.

Predictably though, Ferrari is going to fix that fairly soon if the latest spy shots are any indication. Seen working its way through Italy was an F12 sporting camouflage on its ass end. Peculiar, to say the least, but it's light enough for us to think it is not a special variant of the F12 but rather an "M." Typically, when Ferrari upgrades its V12 models it'll tack on an M so you know the difference (e.g., 512M, 456M, 575M). Or, it could be an HGTC/HGTE package under development.

...With the new 488 GTB and the ever-present LaFerrari hogging the limelight at Maranello, Ferrari's front-engined F12 Berlinetta has taken a bit of a back seat lately. But the 730bhp supercar looks set to get a number of revisions for the 2016 model year, which could include a power hike and dynamic tweaks.

The addition of an 'M' badge to the car (standing for Modificata) is likely, as previous Ferraris with front-mounted V12's, like the 456 and 575, have been gifted the moniker to denote the upgrades...
