The car that easily walked away with the 2015 New York Auto Show in its back pocket, the Lincoln Continental, was merely a concept. Of course this means that Lincoln had the option to not build it, but it seems that Ford already knew it had a winner on its hands.

We know this because a vehicle has already been spotted doing research and development testing.

This is excellent news after we saw Lincoln bring back a Continental back in the early 2000s and it never saw the light of day. And after seeing what we saw at the New York Auto Show, we think that this could be the renaissance Lincoln's needed.

According to a well-placed source, the concept we saw is close to the real deal. Of course, we'll believe it when we see it.

If you leaf through the slew of spy shots, you'll note that the headlights do appear to be LED units though I cannot tell if they will feature the Lincoln logo as seen in the remarkable concept. Though the vehicle is camouflaged, it is evident the overall design will remain the same — note the roofline, proportions and C-Pillar. It'll be interesting to see if the chrome taillights stick around or if something more practical replaces them.
