This year the all-new Jaguar F-Type has been making some noise. Quite literally.

No, seriously. You can hear the damn thing a mile away.

To be straightforward though, the big problem with the all-new F is its price. Originally the vehicle was slated to go head-to-head with the Porsche Boxster and Cayman. Just there's one problem, the base price is no where near competitive.

So, in order to combat that, rumors are swirling that Jaguar is working to slot in the four-cylinder, 2.0 turbocharged motor to lower the barrier of entry. Considering that powerplant is good for 240 horsepower and approximately 250 lb.-ft. of torque, it seems like it could be used wisely in the F-Type.

Just one small issue: how will Jaguar get a four cylinder to sound great?

We're willing to see what the leaping cat can come up with.
