The latest all-new Porsche Cayenne is under research and development, and the competition has gotten stronger. In turn that means the boys and girls from Stutttgart have to turn around something good.

Something real good.

While details remain quite slim at the moment, here's what we're thinking the all-new Cayenne will feature when the next-gen product debuts:

- It will have to lose weight, a lot of it — 300-500 pounds
- Turbocharged, six-cylinder powerplant good for ~450 horsepower
- The ride quality will have to get more comfortable
- The overall experienced will have to become more refined

The thing is, with the Land Rover Range Rover becoming the object of affection and a slew of other luxury variants coming into the market, Porsche will have to up the ante.

Until now we haven't seen any changes to the body though the Cayenne has been testing for months. We're thinking that the company is spending a lot of time working on the chassis. Not only to lighten the load but to also perfect the mix of comfort and sport.
