Have you ever heard of Perana? I hadn't until today.

Perana is a collaboration of sorts between a South African automaker — Perana Performance Group — and the legendary coachbuilder. Zagato, known for the body work and modified cars it's put out through the likes of Aston Martin, Bentley and Ferrari, produces some of the most unique and interesting automotive designs out there. And, if you take a good look at the Z-One, you'll find elements in some of its limited edition or one-off cars in there — check out the grille, shoulder line, etc.

Essentially what you're buying is a kit car with a Chevrolet Corvette LS3 — or LS7 — under the hood. Of course, it's one seriously built kit car.

Given the rarity of the car, aside from the fact I doubt most gearheads have heard of one, it seems to be an interesting package.

**Special thanks to Fred Khaz for the great shots!
