It's been quite some time since we originally saw images of a souped up Mercedes-AMG GT. While we would have expected for the three-pointed star to reveal exactly what it had in store for buyers, the company has kept a lid on it all this time.

Maybe that will change at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show? As of now there's no indication.

What we do know is that Mercedes' tuning division has been hard at work testing an all-new AMG GT. While the name still has yet to be figured out, the latest thinking has landed on GT-R. We wonder what Nissan will think about that.

The latest reports are indicating a bump in power, a decrease in weight and an increase in downforce via aerodynamic additions — e.g., new front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear spoiler.

In these all-new spy shots of the GT-R undergoing winter testing, it's clearly a much more hardcore variant of the AMG GT. Some things to note. Check out its front grille lifted from the GT3 racer as well as that hardcore rear diffuser. That looks very, very serious. In addition, the fixed rear spoiler that's given away the test car still exists and we don't think that will change.

Do you notice anything else, Spies?
