There's a pretty good reason why there's a question mark in the headline of this post. That's because this is a difficult video clip to decipher.

Our friend Toldi made sure to send us yet another great clip of the Porsche 911 undergoing developmental testing in Porsche's hometown, Stuttgart. While we've been waiting quite a bit of time to see the 991 in Mark II form, it seems like we're not getting any closer to a reveal. Perhaps the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) will be the place it takes a bow?

Now, here's the rub. Porsche has confirmed that the Boxster and Cayman will receive a four-cylinder motor. Of course, in theory, this sounds dreadful for someone like me who despises fours; however, the good news is that it will be a flat four with a unique sound. We've seen a couple Boxster/Cayman mules on camera and they sound OK. Of course the question begs, will the 911 receive the same powerplant?

It will weigh less, be able to produce similar power to today's models and likely produce more torque than a naturally aspirated flat six. So, what's there not to like?

In the clip Toldi filmed, the car is seen at a full stop and then it comes to life and motors on. But, due to the distance of the vehicle and the camera's microphone, I cannot tell if what we hear is the 911 or the Mazda 3 that comes into frame late in the clip.

What say you, Spies? Is THIS the four-cylinder 911 or just a Mark II 991?
