As Volkswagen is still licking its wounds from the rather nasty fallout surrounding dieselgate, it appears that one of the world’s largest automakers is preparing an all-out sport-utility vehicle assault. We can’t blame them as it’s going to take quite a bit of time to make some of the dollars it loses back.

In addition, it doesn’t hurt that it is where consumer demand is right now.

So, not only will our German friends be delivering a seven-seat Teramont, it too will also be bringing to market a third-gem Touareg. As a former first-gen Touareg owner, this excites me. I just hope it does not take any inspiration from the second-gen product, which was not nearly as good as the first-gen model.

Caught in action around country roads doing some developmental testing with a cadre of Volkswagen Group vehicles, the Touareg certainly has a little something-something going on. The most interesting snippet of film is when it is being tailed by some all-new Audi Q7s. It could be my eyes lying to me, but after close examination it appears that the Touareg is a bit wider and larger than the Q7. Considering the Q7’s rather significant size, this is interesting for me to see.

Having said that, I am curious to hear what you see, Spies. Does the all-new, third-gen Touareg look larger to you or do I just need an eye examination?
