The 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) was the big debut for Mercedes-Benz's latest all-new vehicle, the E-Class. While there was plenty of hype and excitement at the three-pointed star's stand, we're interested to see how many people run out and buy the all-new E.

Mercedes has been leading an all-new assault with every product doing incredibly well.

Now though we're setting our sights to something a bit more, beefy. That would be the next-gen Mercedes-AMG E63. We've been privy to some great spy shots that depicted the all-new AMG undergoing testing, however, we're getting a wee bit eager now that we've seen the E in the flesh.

According to reports the next-gen E63 will benefit from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine good for somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 horsepower. In addition, it is said to get a weight reduction, all-wheel drive only and an all-new nine-speed transmission.

Though AWD may sound daunting, the good news is that AMG's head honcho said to Autocar that this AMG will still be more than able to do all the fun stuff gearheads are accustomed to — skids, drifts, etc.

...Winter testing generally makes up the last phase of pre-production development, suggesting the E63 is on course to make its debut in the first few months of this year.
