There's no question that if you want to go out and buy the latest and greatest in BMW engineering, you probably don't have too look beyond the all-new BMW i8. Set out to be a performance vehicle that's remarkably fuel efficient, it's also one helluva looker.

If you pull up to your local hot spot, we are pretty confident this will steal attention from the Porsche 911, Audi R8 and even a Ferrari 458 Italia. That's because it is a forward-thinking automobile.

Since we are tech guys here, it's like comparing a PC laptop to an Apple MacBook when the company first debuted the aluminum unibody. The design of the BMW is just enchanting, particularly when those doors swing out and upwards to the sky.

BUT, we do have some bad news to report. According to information passed along to the head honcho — Agent 001 — not one, but TWO SoCal dealers have said that there are serious mark ups on the i8.

How bad could it be, they said. It won't hurt too much, they said.

The mark up is $100,000 to be one of the FIRST owners. Here's the crazy thing: buyers have already left deposits.

Keep in mind this markup is on an already impressively priced BMW that starts at $135,925.
