SPYSHOTS- First look at the 4-door BMW M3 and Convertible
This fall, BMW will start off with the launch of the new M3 model range by introducing coupe version. In spring 2008 the convertible M3 will follow, and finally in autumn another brand new four-door version will be unveiled. This one, however, has at the most the four doors in common with this predecessor, because while the 1995 M3 was powered by a 3.0 liter inline-6 engine delivering 296 HP, the M3 cars of today gets power from a strong 4.0 litre V-8, which should be able to accelerate in 4.6 sec. to 100 km/h. i think the M3 sedan should get the coupe taillights and a roof spoiler.

Exactly, sedan tail lights are just not proportional.

very nice... m3 conv looks a little bland... but the sedan should go over well as a good M5 subsitude ... v8 .. less expensive .. 4 doors.. nice

The quad exhaust is to close to the center, it look very ugly like that. Move the exhaust farther to the side.

Trust me I know what I'm talking about, I took a art in college, LOL :) ...........ha...ha...ha....he..he..

honestly if the sedan would get the coupes rear end it'd be the best 3-series ever made, until then it looks retarded...please lord tell BMW to change the back of their 3-series sedan.

I don't think so.

Where did you get that information?

BMW made the coupe and sedan different for a reason. They want them to have different "identities." Most companies don't completely redesign the taillights in a refresh.

What are you, a used BMW salesman? How would you know they're getting "fallout from owners?" Seems like the 3 is doing fine, to me!

I like it. I wish they would release the actual HP and Torque figues. The torque is what I want to know the most. I would probably take it over the IS-F 4 door or the RS4. But, since BMW has a coupe and will have the sedan coming out next, will Lexus provide a IS-F coupe, to balance it out?

Your an idiot, its mentioned above in the article so go and do some reading. There was an M3 sedan before, and they are making it again, do you know what that means? bye bye IS-F......

BMW is producing the four-door M3 because of demand from owners. It's nice to have an M3 with more versatility. It also doesn't hurt to make a clear-cut competitor to RS4, IS-F, C63, etc...

And yes, there was an M3 sedan before. That was a slick car. Back then, its only real competitors were the S4 and C43 AMG!

Lexusmaniac. There was a M3 sedan back then. Though they stopped production of it for some reason and now its resurfaced when the IS-F shows up.

I like Lexus, I have a IS300, but I always wanted the 4 door M3 from 98. I give loads of respect to BMW, and can see things objectively. I am not blinded by brand fanatics. If I was I would have followed my dad and have been a "Ford Man".

I wish Lexus would stop being so conservative and make a IS coupe in reg and "F", just do it. Because if they give BMW a run for their money, they actually are improving BMW. Competition improves the breed.

Agree. How good would the current 3-Series be without the competition constantly being on their heels?

I 100% agree that they should give the sedan the headlights ad taillights of the good-looking coupe.

I agree with both of you.

Except the 3 sedan. The rear lights don't offend me, but it would be nice if the car was widened a bit and the E92's rear lights were put there.

However, I don't really know why, but I like the front end of both bodystyles. The sedan's headlamp clusters look quite elegant to me, for some reason I can't comprehend. I even think it makes it look kind of similar to a Jaguar- DON'T ASK ME WHY!

I'd like to see what the M3 wagon/estate looks like. The ultimate family hauler?

I've gotten used to the tail-lights now, granted they are not stunning, but it gives the rear end a slightly cheeky look almost. If they are going to change the tail-lamps It gives me an excuse to get rid of the 320i now, and get a 320Si - I just want something slightly less common!

Either way, the new M3 should be stunning in all formats... excellence is almost gauranteed with an M badge, but only time will tell if it stacks up against all the competition.

As they are making a Coupe, Cabriolet and saloon, they could go the hole hog and make an M3 Touring... that would be a first IIRC.

I think the ultimate wagon comparison test would be RS4 Avant vs. '08 M3 Touring.

I wouldn't be able to choose!

Lexusmaniac is the biggest tard I have ever encountered. Anyone who does not know that there was an E36 M3 sedan knows ZERO about cars.

interesting that these mules have nice "M" wheels, and the m3-concept had those bbs fossils. i stated before that the m3 needs m3 wheels, not some tire-rack bbs crap.

i like bbs wheels, but i LOVE the new bmw wheels designs. much more modern. much more bmw.

also, i still predict an adjustment to the lumpy hood design prior to release.

m3 sedan is my choice. i like the coupe, but think bmw took the sedan to a level of sportiness that the coupe already was at.
