There you have it! The goods have been released!

During its annual press conference, Audi decided to discuss MANY of the German luxury automaker's plans going forward. Frankly, it was shocking how transparent it was. One takeaway is certain after the meeting: Audi will be developing many, MANY sport-utility vehicles for the market.

The two highlights from the event though were as follows:

1) The Q6: Competing against the likes of the all-new BMW X6 and all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe, the Q6 will be an important addition to the brand. While the Q7 will be the roomier and more utilitarian option, expect the Q6 to be the fashion icon. Here's the catch though: it will be electric. In addition, expect its styling to be heavily inspired by the Prologue Concepts.

According to management, ALL Audi products going forward will take creative license from those three concept cars we saw.

2) The Q8 does exist and will be the range-topping SUV for the marque. This means it will take Audi into emerging markets with a lot of disposable income — the Middle East, China, et al. — and it will go up against the likes of the big daddy Land Rover Range Rover. According to reports, expect it to once again be inspired by the Prologue concepts; however, it will be sleeker when compared to the Q7, which seems to be given three-row, family hauling status.

Hold on to your seats, Spies. Things are about to get VERY interesting!

Previously hinted at at the Beijing motor show by Stadler, the upmarket crossover forms a crucial part of Audi’s growth strategy that will see it extend its line-up by no fewer than 11 new models by 2020.
