One of the more interesting aspects of the all-new Porsche 911 is that it boasts a seven-speed MANUAL transmission. This is the first implementation that I've ever heard of.Of course that would get most gearheads thinking "How will that look," granted, there is only two ways. With that said, anything floating in your imagination can be put to rest now since an image has been shot and put up on Twitter. As requested a pic of new 911's 7 speed manual 'box... I'll be buying 911's with manual transmissions until they don't make them anymore. And then I'll buy the last 911 on the showroom floor with a manual and drive it until me or the car "goes". — pcar4evr (View Profile)

I think this is an olive branch to all the Porsche customers that fear/despise the PDK "revolution". The bigger the 911 gets the more customers will be attracted to that option. Dog leg would've been cool but I'm just glad is still an option and hopefully always will be at Porsche. — suspence (View Profile)

You have to hand it to Porsche to keep the manual tranny alive. They could easily go the way of strictly PDK. Then they would be like most super cars out there as well as most car makers in general. The idea of rowing your own gears is still special to many enthusiasts. Because of the fuel economy regs it seems like 99% of vehicles produced are switching over to semi automatics or full auto depending on the vehicles. Shifting a manual tranny will become a lost art. Keep up the good work Porsche!— mini22 (View Profile)

The 7 speed throw felt fine during my test drive. 7th gear was like an overdrive.— skytop (View Profile)
