The 2008 G37 Coupe - A Lunch-Bag Let Down?
It seems as if the new 2008 G37 Coupe wasn't as much of a hit in the styling department as we all expected it to be. General Consensus from several hardcore G35 read that this particular car or more specifically design just isn't cutting it. We want the Concept version back!

A case in point, i have included a well known G35 forum where the discussion on this car is in great debate.

I, for one, love it. I wish it was a Lexus.

I like it too, and it's perfectly fine as an Infiniti.

anytime One messes with near perfection,....there will be those who are simply complainers-au-naturale'

The vehicle excels in many fronts which have had the luster taken off by the earlier intro of the G-35 sedan for '07.

The ultimate "truth" for the unit will be in sales volume and its relation to prior models.

Infiniti has followed LEXUS in mastering the art of limited supply to maintain sustained demand over a prolonged period of time.

Days-on-lot avg.'s dictate supply and release of product,....so as not to flood the market which thereby maintains avg. gross at higher levels.

When you operate at slim profit margins,....this dynamic is essential to maximizing unit profitability.

No matter what the "professional" opinions say,...this coupe,...on the Infiniti lot,....will sell as well as,...if not better than,...the old coupe.

BRING ON THE EX CONCEPT CROSSOVER.

I am sure that the US aftermarket will F*** it up even more. The JDM version is probably some version of a Sklyine with the VQ37VHR. I too am not a big fan of that rear end. I would much rather have the new G35 sedan with the VQ37VHR in it instead of the VQ35HR. Boo Nissan. Give us the Skyline GT-R already and quit teasing us with this heap. And yes would be haters I am aware of the Edmunds test vs. the 335i Coupe.

Unfortunately, Infiniti will be known only by its driving experience. Nothing exciting about this design. Its concept was just breath taking but this is far beyond than that. I don't know why Infinit failed to give its market that beautiful concept and just came out with the same sedan design refreshment.

the g35 coupe is still a sexier car compared to this. for one thing, this car look quite large for a coupe.

I don't think it's styling is a let down. Infiniti has some of the best looking cars on the road.

It's not an ugly car, but many of us feel the G35 coupe was better-looking.

I'm one of them, sadly. I wish they could've been more imaginative.

The G35 looked way better than the G37, not to mention more expensive. The new G37 looks as if it's in the same class as an RSX.

Even the power stats aren't too exciting to me, because you can pull an extra 15-30HP out of the current VQ from modifications. I'm really disappointed in this G37--I was looking forward to this redesign, but I think I'll look back towards 3er and A5. Hopefully they don't sissy up the design of the 350Z.

"RICEMASTER" either your eyes deceive you or your imagination is working overtime...The 335i looks nothing like a Sebring, not even close.

Well RICEMASTER judging by your username we know your taste in automobiles. Keep swinging for the fences with your ZERO functionality monster wings and your coffee can exhausts. I know that CIVICS need alot of downforce at 65 on the interstate though. That i can understand.

Infiniti G37 Coupe facing off with the BMW 3 Series coupe

By Josh Jacquot, Senior Road Test Editor
Date posted: 03-20-2007

It happens on lap 4. That's when the difference between Infiniti's 2008 G37 Coupe and BMW's 2007 335i Coupe crystallizes.

All at once the BMW coupe that we've considered the leader in its class finally decides it's had enough. With its oil temperature pinned at 300 degrees F and its coolant temperature climbing rapidly, the turbocharged Bavarian wonder engages its limp-home mode and we crawl pathetically back to the pits.

This all-too-dramatic demonstration of Japanese-versus-German engineering occurred at Nissan's Arizona Test Center, where Infiniti invited a select group of journalists to drive the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe back-to-back with Germany's best. The limp-home part, well, that wasn't part of the plan.

In fairness, both cars had experienced a relentless pounding by journalists with a profound absence of mechanical sympathy before the BMW finally succumbed to the desert heat. But the flogging had been similarly abusive to both cars, and the Infiniti G37 never showed any signs of weakness.

That doesn't have to do with reliability. It's because turbocharged engines don't run well in hot weather.

S4cabriofoxone -It has everything to do with reliabilty. There's a reason why car companies do hot/cold weather testing; because people who buy mass production cars expect them to work no matter where they are. The engine should be able to handle whatever strains and the oil/coolant temperatures should stay in check regardless of how hot the weather might be. BTW, the median temps in Stanfield, AZ is under 100f between October to May.

I think the 335i was missing that all important oil coller that alot of current owners have been complaining about. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57267
