It needs a retracting hard-top before it will sell in large numbers in the US Yes its attractive, and in the 1980s or 1990s it would have been a car to lust over - but things have changed and there are more innovative vehicles around.— MercBasher (View Profile)

Hey all, Reading through the blog I note some interesting speculation as to what Audi is upto with future models. I live in France (Irish by birth) and have been able to get some very good info. re Audi futures as follows: A3 Cabrio - the 'spyshots' shown are in fact almost certainly computer generated/manipulated pictures created by some very clever German Audi fans. The front end is certainly the current A3 front and the rere end light cluster is taken from the A3 Sportback (5 Door Model). If you look closely you will notice, as has been referred to previously, the proportions at the rere end of the A3 Cabrio are not quite right...this is caused by the limitations of the software package being used to create the image. Audi will (99% confirmed) be producing an A3 Cabrio .. probably mid to late 2008, however when the finished product hits the streets it will look a lot better then the photo. A4 - the next generation of A4 will be based on the new 'floorpan' which will be common to the upcoming generations of the A4, A5 & A6 models. The A4 will then be available in 4 door saloon, 5 door Avant (estate) and most likely 5 Door hatch (which will be very similar to the upcoming Q5 ... baby version of the new Q7). If you haven't already done so check out the Audi Roadjet concept car on the Audi website for cues as to the design concept for the next gen. A4 range. When the new A4 hits the streets (late 2008/mid 2009) the A4 Cabrio will no longer exist. A5 - The A5 will fit between the A4 and A6 in size and will also be available in Cabrio version. A6 - Face lift and new 'floorpan' will be part of the revamp of this amazing car. Also in 2006 S6 becomes available in both Saloon & Avant (RS6 version not yet being discussed ... expect it around 2008 before new A6 is released though) A7 - Speculation is that this will be the A6 Coupe .. to compete with (well not really ... more like beat up) the ultimate mind numbingly boring BMW 6 (yawn, yawn, yawn). If this gets the Green light it will do to the BMW 6 what the A6 has done to the BMW 5 sales ... kill it!! Oh joy of joys. Engine sizes for all the above will probably be different in USA than Europe however, the S6 is getting the VW Group V10 5.2L engine (putting out 435 Horses). If the RS6 gets the green light expect the same engine with a tuned output in excess of 500 Horses ! Ciao for now.— MadDog (View Profile)
