The first SC was really nice when it first came out. this new one with the metal roof system is ugly, the rear seats are useless.

The Lexus SC430 is a Ladymobile and I always rhyme Hyundai with Sunday and the Tiburon looks like the South Korean's ripped off a few Mustang design ques, to me.

The SC drives very friendly. The V8 is strong. The hardtop is cool. I'd drive one if it was free.

I would drive a Toyota Yaris if it was free. I'd also drive a Ferrari 612. Who wouldn't drive a free car?

Will, this review was so funny, I just loved it. ;)

Where are all your friends who claim the SC430 was class leading in driving dynamics, style, comfort etc.? It's a slug, not sporty and not even comfortable.

Accept the fact that Lexus screws up too.

What are you talking about, Will?

The SC430 was always the loser in this class. The handling is terrible, the comfort is overrated and as Top Gear reported, the car is a bad investment. The interior IMPO is overrated.

Even in the US, car magazines slammed the SC for its boringness and lack of appeal. The only thing the car has going for it is its smooth engine and reliability. Nothing else.

And then there's the SL, which not only outshines it in luxury, but offers a dose of performance and a HUGE helping of style that the SC can't match. That's the essential makeup of the price premium.

"When the SC came out, it definitely could hang with the pack."

Yes it could, in fact, the first generation SC 430 was sold out before it even began production.

This was a British person's opinion. I wouldn't trust their opinions. Sorry Rupert, but it's the truth.

Well the back seat does not have any function but to lower the cost of insurance, because if the rear seats where not there, the insurance rate on the SC430 would sky rocket being only a two seater!!
The SC430 has an excellent interior layout, someone should slap some sense into those three stooges from Top gear!!!

I wouldn't believe a word of those British Bitches. Europeans are all so proud of their cars, that any car from another country is reguarded as an intruder and is belittled into making people believe they aren't great cars. I will admit the SC is a little bit dated, but it certainly isn't a bad car.

And another thing.
Of course the trunk is filled with roof. I believe that the SL-Class' trunk also has a roof in it. It's what some people call a retractable hardtop. And the back row seat of the SC was put in to reduce insurance costs. They literally designed it to be useless to give you a break on insurance. If you notice, non of the other luxury retractable hartops have a rear seat.

"The Hyundai is not Lotus..." I wonder if he knows that Toyota build's Lotus' engines. That would put a damper on his spirit. Oh how I would love to be the one to inform that stupid, stupid man.

Duh, he knows that, 350.

He knows a lot more than you do, in fact.

Will: "Smooth ride, fine interior"

Didn't he just say it has a terrible ride and poor handling? Didn't he also say the interior was ugly and tacky?

So where the hell did you pull out 'smooth ride' and 'fine interior'?

You use those terms so much, I think you have forgotten what they mean.

The SC is rubbish, Get over it.

Oh, and you wouldn't trust the opinion of a British motoring journalist?

Even though they are free of bias because they don't make cars anymore?

Aston and Jaguar aside, all the other manufacturers are low-volume sports cars.

If there was one country I wouldn't trust when it comes to cars, it would be America. They don't know what a sports car is, they only make trucks and buy Lexus'.

Most Americans opinions on cars are bought, and they rely too much on meaningless statistics and consumer reports.

At least the British press get in their cars and really drive them!

I wouldn't trust the opinion of a British journalist, they'll all the same, always trying to put Lexus down at almost every minute possibity. Even reading some aricles, when talking about Lexus they automatically go into Lexus mode, it's like a different language by making silly sarcastic comments and trying to cast doubts in the cars ability.

So much so, I've even gone into Lexus showroom to see what they say is actually true and 9/10 it's complete bo**ocks. Stupid I know, believing the crap they write. Never again!

Have you ever seen Hammond trying to get in the back seat of a Jaguar XK hardtop of convertible??????

"They are biased towards BRITISH cars (not all European cars as you claim"

I was referring to each individual European country. German is biased toward their cars, England is biased toward their cars, France is biased toward their cars, etc.

My ex gf had a SC430. I didn't think it was that bad. I didn't mind riding in it, but I refused to be seen driving it. LOL.

I liked it better than the previous model SLGay hardtop conv (I mean SLK) lineup.

It it was just like most Lexus' are: Comfortable, reliable, feminine, well featured cars with good fit & finish that insulate you from the road better than Toyotas do.

No, ALL Elises have Toyota engines, Europe and America. You could specify them with Rover K-Series lumps if so desired, but the downfall of Rover has meant production of the K-Series has dried up.

The Lotus Europa (A more touring version of the Elise) uses a Opel 2.0 Turbo.
