So, a funny thing happened on the way to Best Buy today. Well I wasn't exactly on the way to Best Buy, I had just come out after buying a monitor for my office. As I strolled out I noticed a gentleman was adjusting a car cover over a sport-utility vehicle at the end of my row.

Living in northern New Jersey this isn't a completely out-of-the-ordinary picture — BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo all have headquarters in the county where I live. Prototypes aren't exactly rare.

After asking if he was a test driver or engineer as he strolled away from his vehicle, he sheepishly said "yeah," and kept moving. As you'd expect, there's no time for small talk.

Obviously I had to take photos of this. The cover does a pretty damn good job keeping the vehicle's details hidden. Overall, the only element you can really make out is the front valence and roofline. Clearly this is an X6-inspired vehicle.

BUT, the more I look at that front valence and compare it against other spy shots of the all-new BMW X6, the more I think it could **possibly** be the all-new Mercedes-Benz MLC testing in the States. The intake and front valence's shape is a dead-on ringer for the latest designs Mercedes is implementing into its all-new products. The only other piece that's somewhat telling is the glimpse of the rear wheel, which appears to be BMW-esque to my eyes; however, that's debatable.

That's why I am leaving it up to you: is this BMW's all-new X6 OR is it the Mercedes-Benz MLC under development?

What say you, Spies?
