Since we saw the launch of the Ford Shelby Mustang GT350, we've been amped up. This vehicle is an exciting one and we were through the roof that the Blue Oval was pushing the boundaries. Then Ford introduced the GT350R and blew our minds completely.

And in the GT350R's first ride along, more details have come to light. And they're going to juice you up!

According to reports, the all-new GT350R will weigh in at 3,650 pounds. To put this into perspective, the BMW M4 ranges from 3,530 to 3,585 depending on which gearbox you select — dual-clutch being heavier. Given the GT350R will feature over 525 horsepower, we're expecting it to be quicker.

Another thing that's made people scratch their heads is why Ford decided to go with a flat plane crank V8 over its more conventional V8 construction of yore. Well, it turns out Ford bought a Ferrari 458 Italia and essentially reverse engineered that vehicle to see how it could learn a lesson or two. So, that's why the Shelby will boast a flat plane crank motor that saves 10 pounds.

One more thing. According to people on the ground at the ride along, Ford Performance's Chief Engineer Jamal Hameedi said that during testing the GT350R was keeping up with a 911 GT3 on the same track. While that's a bold statement that can be dissected due a variety of factors, we're going to say it's mighty impressive for the time being.
