The MINI Cooper has always been thought of as a small car, for obvious reasons.

Until the company brought out the Countryman and Paceman, it seemed almost impossible to figure out what the company would do with product expansion. You have to consider that until the Countryman came along it only produced the Cooper and Clubman.

After the failures of the Roadster and Coupe it seems that MINI is going to continue doing what it does best. Churn out a slightly altered variant of the Cooper that folks love. Thus, the birth of the Cooper Hardtop 4-door.

Hopefully this variant plus the Countryman will be what it takes to keep MINI loyalists in-brand and to lure new, more practical, auto buyers to MINI.
