It was the early 1990s and I was entranced. Seeing rap legend Ice Cube rolling — and bouncing — around and professing the real deal about SoCal life in his music video for his hit "Today Was A Good Day," was pretty mind bending at the time. What did I know? I was in New Jersey.

Lowrider Magazine's Editor Joe Ray talks about the birth of Los Angeles' native automotive art form; Chris Majera and Brandon Brusca take Jay driving in their custom Chevy Impalas.
