As we have already noted, the Super Bowl is just about one week away happening only a stone's throw from my abode in New Jersey, and the automakers are at it again. Although a plethora of companies are spending BIG time dollars on advertising and 30-second spots, they continue to dull the impact of their investments by issuing teasers before the big day.

Why? It's the new marketing prerequisite, methinks.

Toyota is spotlighting its all-new 2014 Toyota Highlander. And in a peculiar juxtaposition, it has paired up Terry Crews — the guy from the Old Spice commercials who does a lot of screaming — with the muppets. I guess it's a family play?

Audi, pursuing the whole viral content thing, has invented a creature symbolic of the all-new Audi A3. It's called the doberhuahua. Little dog, ferocious appetite. Yeah, yeah, whatever.

I don't like to speak for Agent 001 but something tells me we're thinking the same thing about these spots right now: why bother even trying when Chrysler is going to come out of NOWHERE and blow you out of the water?
