Unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show was the all-new Maserati Alfieri concept car. At first I wasn't entirely impressed with it. After all, it's just another look at what Maserati has done time and time again. It built another 2+2.

BUT, after checking out this clip I learned A LOT more of vital information that makes the Alfieri much more important in my book.

First things first, did you know it was Maserati's birthday this year? It turns 100. That's a MASSIVELY big deal for any automaker. In addition, the car is named after the marque's founder, Alfieri Maserati.

In the past couple of weeks more information about the Alfieri has made it to the press. Whether it is speculation or truths remains to be seen. What we do know at this point is that Maserati is eager to build the Alfieri and could do so in approximately 28 months. Oh, and the concept car is a pretty good indicator of how the company will continue to evolve its styling going forward. Considering it looks like an Alfa Romeo 8C blended together with an Aston Martin, there's a whole lot to love about this design direction.
