After seeing that little promotional clip provided to us by our friends at Jaguar Land Rover, I did a bit more digging. I knew that couldn't exactly be it.

Well, I was right.

The British automaker known for its luxury saloons and off-road capable sport-utility vehicles recently invited Auto Express to go for a ridealong with its handling and development expert to better understand exactly how bonkers the all-new Range Rover Sport SVR is.

That's probably a good idea given the vehicle's weight and performance.

Although Auto Express didn't get behind the wheel, the publication shows us a hot lap and gives a nice little description of the experience.

All I have to say is this: "Keys, please!"


As we come around the final corner, a push of the throttle is all it takes for us to start to slide. It’s all under control, yet we straighten up only just before we hit the dry part of the track. Then we’re off again, with an exhaust bellow and enough power to pin you to your seat.

You might think we’re in a race car, or even a supercar. But we’re not. We’re in a two-tonne-plus luxury off-roader. This isn’t any old high-end 4x4, though – it’s the Range Rover Sport SVR. This is our first proper encounter, albeit as a passenger, as JLR’s handling and development expert Mike Cross gives us a ride around the Rockingham circuit in Northants...
