Over the years I've never really thought of Lamborghinis as track cars. Statement pieces, fast, flamboyant, sure. But I never thought of them as carving up road courses.

They always seemed ill proportioned, relatively heavy and not exactly optimal from a driving dynamics standpoint. Much like a Dodge Viper, Lamborghinis are known for having a fine line between getting 10/10ths out of the vehicle and it biting you back in a big way.

Turns out though the all-new Aventador SV may be changing that perception. That's because it just cracked the staggering seven minute mark at the world famous Nürburgring. Snagging a blistering 06:59:73, that puts it in the same leagues as the worlds latest and greatest supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1. That's pretty astonishing and great news for Lamborghini.

Watch the full lap below and check out this driver's amazing skills at keeping this SV in check. You'll note she moves around quite a bit.

During P Zero Corsa tyre development tests with Pirelli - the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce presented at the 85th International Motor Show in Geneva - has completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit tearing down the wall of the mythical 7-minute.
