VW Touareg To Become A Pickup?
Pictured above is a pickup version of the Volkswagen Touareg SUV that has had its rear section chopped off and replaced with an aluminium tray. The vehicle is based on an extended platform of the standard SUV and was built by Volkswagen Individual, who developed the vehicle as a special one-off to showcase a possible new path for VW.

Volkswagen Individual is the company’s in-house customizer and is mostly commissioned to create police force vehicles and extra-luxurious versions of VW’s current fleet. You may remember the Phaeton Lounge stretch limousine, which measured 22 feet in length and was the first ever 4WD limo. The team are also responsible for other exclusive metal including the previous CrossGolf, Golf R32 and W12 Touareg SUV.

This is a nice truck and it reminds me of the Honda, Nissan and Toyota pickup trucks, but it's a truck for fun only.

Not for work.

This is the truck concept that came out in 2001. The truck had the v10 TDI and is a very heavy duty truck

I would like to see VW do a truck

Individual? Is this the next marketing scam?

Not a very nice looking truck from the side, but if ever there was an argument for a 4 or 6 cylinder diesel, this thing should be the beneficiary.

Now where did I heard VW truck? Oh yeah, me.

the VW AAC Concept was presented to shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed the president of the UAE when he signed a contract with VW buying 10% of the company's shares...

VW will be building a huge processing plant in Abu Dhabi the capital of the UAE which will be a huge advantage for VW when it comes to boosting thier sales in the mid-east region...

Ridgline is the joke. All of the magazines loved it, it hasn't sold at all. Because it is ugly.

I think its a good Idea.
Hell, there is a market for the Escalade Ext and the Navigator Pickup so why not this ?

I would buy one if it had the V10 diesel in it (Perfect For Africa Countrysides)

Is there a law that says all pickups must pass the rubicon trail in order to be called a truck?
I am the current owner of a mint VW rabbit pickup and it's all the pick-up I need.
It's really the best of both worlds, ecomomy car when you need to commute and a hauler for that occasional Home depot run.
Chevy El Caminos were popular during their day and it was clear peoplel have a desire to buy vehicles that do both.

Yes a truck should be able to cross the rubicon trail otherwise call it a crossover. Simple - because calling it a truck provides the notion that it is able to all the rough stuff.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying that car based pickups are a bad thing. I just want my truck to really be a truck.

Bring back the Thing before VW does this. Ridgelines are an alternative for someone who cannot handle driving a full size behemoth.

Actually, this things only true competition would be the Ridgeline, and possibly other mid-size trucks like the Canyon and Ranger, although they're priced way below the Ridgeline.

Wonder what the pricing will be.

The back looks like a Bentley rear end looking from the side profile. Touareg a pickup I don't think it will be good because the SUV's supposed to be a luxury SUV. It's very luxuriously appointed eventhough it sits under the VW brand. As you all see VW has a luxury sedan too, the Phaeton, which totally rules out Audi as it's luxury brand.
