VW tries to design a CLS and it looks like they're ending up with a Jag S-Type!
Here are the best shots yet of the VW Passat, 4-door coupe that is supposed to be their version of the Mercedes CLS.

Unfortunately, although it's disguised, from the way it looks from these photos, we see old Jaguar S-Type.

Which would be a yuck!

Your thoughts please...

It's pretty hard to tell but if you ask me it sort of looks like a Chrysler, a little Intrepid & Sebring mixed into one. However I'm sure it won't look like that when the wraps come off.

I do hate though how VW is bringing the 4-door coupe niche' down market, they should have just left it to the Audi & Porsche groups.

Side morors are intresting.

Doors and the line flowing just above door handles (crease line?) is very new MB, especially C Class and rear looks like the old S Type.

VW is supposed to be the "Peoples Car". This is going in the wrong direction. They choose to bring this in instead of the Sirocco. I don't think it will sell.

I've seen better spy pics of this car last month and it doesn't look like the Jag S-Type. From the side it looks longer and less compressed like the Jag does. The car almost looks too long which makes me wonder if it will be too heavy.

Volkswagen has some kind of a complex with its executives that makes them want to be everything to everyone. Some types of cars have no place in the VW line up, especially with the amount of brands the company controls. The result is turds like the Phaeton and now this garbage.

"its executives makes them want to be everything to everyone".

Is this not the idea of the "people's car"?

"The result is turds like the Phaeton and now this garbage."

The Phaeton was an amazing, incredibly underrated sedan that bombed in the US market, but deserved to succeed. Its arch nemesis? The Audi A8L, of course.

And the A8L is better, so that's why the Phaeton didn't go anywhere. But the VW was better at being a Lexus LS than the Lexus was--with the added bonus of a fun character.

Okay, I usually don't like to comment on highly disguised cars, but from what is visible, this looks very plain... I might even go as far as calling it borderline boring! But then again, it is a VW, they're not exactly known for their innovative and refreshing designs.

Sorry but when did a coupe develop 2 extra doors? Why do car companies consider cars like the MB CLS a coupe either? Just becasue my car has a sunroof does not make it a convertible!
