Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported 36,717 units delivered in March.

“We continue to see steady demand for our TDI Clean Diesels as well as our core vehicles,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America. “With the Spring selling season upon us, we expect to see more stability ahead as we lay the groundwork for the launch of the all-new Golf coming later this summer.”

Total Jetta deliveries (including SportWagen) for March accounted for 15,692 units.  Volkswagen will debut the 2015 Model Year Jetta at the New York International Auto Show in April.  The new Jetta will feature a refreshed exterior, improved fuel economy and a host of new safety and technology features.

The Chattanooga-built Passat deliveries totaled 11,050 units delivered for the month. In March the Passat TDI, the only clean diesel in the midsize sedan segment, delivered 4,549 clean diesels. This marks the best March ever for both Passat and Passat TDI® Clean Diesel.

As Volkswagen prepares for the launch of the all-new family of Golf vehicles, sales of the current generation were 1,989 units. The much anticipated, all-new 2015 model will go on sale later this summer.

The benefits of clean diesel vehicles continue to resonate with consumers as Volkswagen delivered 9,764 units. The company confirmed that the newest, most fuel-efficient, TDI® Clean Diesel engine, designated EA288 will power the 2015 Golf, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Passat, and Jetta, all of which are set to arrive in dealer showrooms in the second half of 2014.
