At the 2012 Detroit Auto Show the all-new Ford Fusion made a pretty remarkable debut.

Just before the show kicked off though, some initial photos were leaked thanks to an overseas website. Dubbed the Ford Mondeo abroad, the Mondeo is practically a legend to its owners. Finally, the States is going to get a taste of a globally engineered product in the mid-size sedan class.

While the Fiesta, Focus and Explorer were all globally developed products, the Fusion was left out. Now it inherits a sleeker-looking interior and an Aston Martin snout that seems to have caught plenty of attention.

That said, we're pretty sure it's going to eat into the Toyota Camry, Chevrolet Malibu and Honda Accord's marketshare. While all of the aforementioned vehicles are considered "good" autos, this new Fusion seems like it's knocking it out of the park.

However, there are two vehicles that stand in its path. The European-inspired Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata. Both cars screamed onto the seen with their aggressive pricing, fuel sipping nature and larger interiors. In addition, you have to factor in their monster warranties.

Now, does the Fusion have what it takes to take a bite out of the Koreans market?
