Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported sales of 32,332 units delivered in August 2015.

The all-new Golf family of vehicles continued to find success in the market.  In August, Golf family sales totaled 7,075 units.  Recently, the Golf, Golf SportWagen, and Golf GTI, when equipped with the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system, earned a rating of Top Safety Pick + from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS): the vehicles were also highlighted in a report by IIHS calling out the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking System.

“We are encouraged by the continued strength of the Golf family and confident that success will continue with the model year 2016 vehicles that are equipped with the MIB II infotainment systems and available class leading connectivity features,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America.

The Tiguan delivered 3,165 units, marking a 47.1 percent increase over the previous August. The Touareg, refreshed for 2015, delivered 690 units: 411 of these were TDI® Clean Diesel models, amounting to 59.6 percent of its sales.

The Jetta, refreshed for the 2015 model year with a suite of available driver assistance features, delivered 11,002 units. The 2016 Jetta was also awarded with a Top Safety Pick + rating by IIHS when equipped with the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system.

The Chattanooga-built Passat totaled 7,409 units delivered for the month. Volkswagen recently introduced the value laden Limited Edition model, which has a starting MSRP of $23,995.  A refreshed Passat for 2016 will be revealed later this month and is set to hit the market later in the fall.
