While it's very evident that there's been much excitement over the all-new Tesla Model 3, it seems that some are digging their heels in. We're not quite sure why.
Could it be because Tesla is leading a paradigm shift in the automotive industry and everyone in the space is sh!tting bricks? My thoughts are a resounding "Yes."
According to a Wired piece that launched before yesterday's Model 3 unveil, Tesla's vehicles aren't as green as the general public may think. This is hardly a surprise to anyone with a brain that's been doing some thinking since electric vehicles became real.
Essentially, the research conducted by Devonshire Research Group shows that the manufacturing process as well as the batteries are not particularly green. No kidding, boys and girls. What it does conclude, however, is while Teslas EVs may not be the end all, be all answer for environmentalists, they are less damaging to the environment that its gasoline-powered competition.
Basically, EVs aren't there yet but they're heading in the right direction.
Here's something Devonshire Research Group may have missed though. I am pretty confident no one even cares about the "green" factor related to these vehicles. Sure, there's a minority but most of the folks whooping it up are primarily consumers looking for the next "must have" item and are of the iPod/iPhone generation. They have no problem waiting in line for the next gadget and to post a picture to their various social media feeds when the car is delivered.
Remember that Model S owner who hopped off her private jet and talked about her inbound Model X? Forget that the jet just did damage to the environment, the Model X is awesome!

But how green is a Tesla, really? Devonshire Research Group, an investment firm that specializes in valuing tech companies, dug into the data and concluded that Tesla’s environmental benefits may be more hyped than warranted. Devonshire isn’t saying that Tesla is pulling a Volkswagen, or that its cars are spewing greenhouse gases from invisible tailpipes. It’s arguing that Teslas (and, by extension, all electric vehicles) create pollution and carbon emissions in other ways. Each stage of an EV’s life has environmental impacts, and while they aren’t as obvious as a tailpipe pumping out fumes, that doesn’t make them any less damaging.
