Odd the guy is holding a wire acting like an antenna? Picking up the signal from the key in the house and relaying it to the car? OTA theft?

I will again say - the ability to access the Computer systems of cars from remote is a real big problem - not just from an individual car point of view - but imagine a hacker who could STOP ALL EVS on the road in a particular area without warning. It would be a blood bath. WE still need some way to make these things safer.

There is a happy ending to this story -the thieves put the car on AutoCrash which it then immediately rear ended a parked semi on the side of the road which and killed the slimeball driver. The passenger died moments later when the batteries decided to randomly explode unrelated to the accident, ensuing a long, painful death unlike the lucky driver whom perished instantly. If only justice/karma could work this well!!!

1.) You can do this with any car
2.) You can easily prevent this by using a PIN
3.) The car can be tracked and recovered, thieves cannot turn off remote access without knowing the account password
4.) You can't do this with a Model 3
