SPIED! 2021 Cadillac Escalade Breaks In New Spy Photos! Will It Throw A CURVE At The Competition?

SPIED! 2021 Cadillac Escalade Breaks In New Spy Photos! Will It Throw A CURVE At The Competition?
Spy photographers got an early sneak glimpse of the 2021 interior.

It appears to show a large, widescreen, curved display, even larger than in say a Mercedes S-Class.

Curved TV's have been kind of a bust so why will curved in car screens fare any better?

I am not into a white or nearly white interior in an SUV (Even an escalade) - but at least it looks pretty good.

These images looks like a scene from Terminator 2.

The biggest need of the Escalade is to not so obviously be a Tahoe/Suburban with Cadillac styling. The Cadillac body needs to be have no interchangeable components with the Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban.

The second biggest need is IRS which is supposedly coming.

The final biggest need is to make sure that for $100K it feels more Mercedes than Chevy.

A pretty interior would be nice, but the above stuff is more pressing.

We very much like our Escalade, but it is so obviously a very pretty Chevy.

Curved screens have value when the distance between the screen and the viewer is short (such as this), or the screen is immense (think Cinerama). Home TV screens of 55-85" size are neither, which is why they aren't really of any value, other than a gimmick. But this might work, depending on the curvature and distance from the driver, along with it actually displaying information of value.

I don't see how you look at that photo and determine that the screen or screens shown are curved.

The cover image is a concept car. The actual images in the article are old news though.

The best I can say right now is "this looks like it might not suck". Given Cadillac's track record and how much they've disappointed me, I'm hesitant to go anywhere beyond that.

I'm sure they'll find some place to put cheap hard plastic in a $100,000 vehicle, don't worry.

While GM seems to continually disappoint this looks promising, and is a real opportunity to make a statement. They need to make a statement, that they’ve heard the unanimous disapproval of recent launches.

Totally agree w MD but interior really needs to be a jaw dropper. GM, please show us what you can do...

I am not a fan of touchscreens. It's very distracting and when placed atop the dash, can require a reach. The concept design looks really good, but the spy photos don't look as sleek.

That picture of the white interior is the Escala concelt.
Clickbait. Spies should do better.

Truthy,

We posted the Escala shot because the spy shot is mostly covered. The Escala dash showed the future vision and we bet when the Escalade interior is totally uncovered, you will see that is where the inspiration for the curved screen came from.

$100k for a suv that is really nothing more than a gussied up Chebbie? No thanks. I'd just get the Tahoe/Suburban.

Nothing beats dirty, greasy fingerprints on the instrument cluster.
Nothing beats having to poke your hands through or around the steering wheel while driving to access the greasy touch screen. Very poor design idea.
